NFL Recent Player News
|12/15/2017||Zach Brown, Was, LB|
|Brown, who leads the NFL with 127 tackles, will be sitting out due to multiple injuries when the Washington Redskins host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Analysis: Brown is dealing with Achilles, toe and hip injuries in addition to battling an illness. He departed last Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in the second half and was later seen in a walking boot.
|12/15/2017||Ted Ginn Jr., NO, WR|
|Ginn is listed as questionable for Sunday's game with the Jets with a rib injury, but says he expects to play.
Analysis: Ginn has been nonexistent in two games this month, hauling in just four passes for 37 yards after catching 13 passes for 158 yards in his final two November games.
|12/15/2017||Muhammad Wilkerson, NYJ, DE|
|Wilkerson has been benched for the team's game at New Orleans on Sunday.
Analysis: Coach Todd Bowles says Friday that Wilkerson will not travel with the team. He calls the move a coach's decision and he's worried only about the players who will be facing the Saints. This is just the latest issue involving Wilkerson, the Jets' highest-paid player. Wilkerson was benched for most of the first quarter against Kansas City this month for being late to a team meeting. Bowles would neither confirm nor deny the latest discipline was for a similar infraction.
|12/14/2017||Jacoby Brissett, Ind, QB|
|Brissett was 17 of 30 for 158 yards and didn't throw a touchdown pass Thursday in the Indianapolis Colts' 25-13 loss to the Denver Broncos. He did not throw an interception, didn't fumble and was sacked one time. Brissett added 18 rushing yards on five carries and scored one touchdown on the ground.
Analysis: If you are in the playoffs and starting Brissett, congrats, because you are digging deep. The rushing TD did help.
|12/14/2017||Brandon Williams, Ind, TE|
|Williams was strapped onto a backboard and taken off the field on a golf cart after suffering a head injury early in the second quarter Thursday against Denver. "He's back in the training room right now," Colts coach Chuk Pagano said. "He's got a concussion. We erred on the side of caution, and rightfully so, taking care of him, to get him taken care of on the field and get him to the hospital."
Analysis: Williams was injured when Broncos linebacker Deiontrez Mount appeared to make helmet-to-helmet contact with him as Mount rushed a punt and knocked Williams over backward. He remained down for several minutes as he was lifted onto a backboard and had his facemask removed. Williams will now enter the concussion protocol and it's unclear when, or if, he might play again this season. Williams has 13 catches for 121 yards this season.
|12/14/2017||Trevor Siemian, Den, QB|
|Siemian is done for the season after injuring his left shoulder against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.
Analysis: Siemian was injured after being sacked for a 10-yard loss and driven into the ground by Colts linebacker Barkevious Mingo with 2:33 left in the first quarter. He got up and left the field under his own power but then was taken to the locker room. Siemian was 5 of 9 for 67 yards and didn't throw a touchdown pass Thursday in the Denver Broncos' 25-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He threw one interception.
|12/14/2017||Mohamed Sanu, Atl, WR|
|Sanu was limited in practice on Thursday with a sore knee.
Analysis: Sanu has 17 catches for 190 yards and a touchdown over the past three games.
|12/14/2017||Cameron Brate, TB, TE|
|Brate is limited in practice this week due to a lingering hip issue.
Analysis: Brate only has fantasy value if he hauls in touchdown passes. He has six on the season, but only two in the past eight weeks.
|12/14/2017||JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pit, WR|
|Smith-Schuster has been added to the injury report with a hamstring issue and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game with the Patriots.
Analysis: Smith-Schuster, who was suspended for the team's game against the Ravens, has 22 catches for 393 yards and three touchdowns in his last five games.
|12/14/2017||Casey Hayward, LAC, CB|
|Hayward is questionable for Saturday's game because of a calf injury.
Analysis: It might be best to avoid Hayward in your IDP leagues.
|12/14/2017||Jalen Ramsey, Jax, CB|
|Ramsey was limited in practice Thursday because of a sore back.
Analysis: Ramsey has dealt with various ailments throughout the season. He's expected to suit up this weekend against DeAndre Hopkins and the Texans.
|12/14/2017||DeAndre Hopkins, Hou, WR|
|Hopkins did not practice for a second straight day Friday due to a toe injury, but expects to play Sunday.
Analysis: Hopkins has the potential to hold value even with T.J. Yates under center, so this should be a concern for the Texans and fantasy owners. He had 11 catches for 149 yards and two scores - both from Yates - last weekend.
|12/14/2017||T.J. Yates, Hou, QB|
|Yates will get his first start this season Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars with Deshaun Watson out for the season with a knee injury and backup Tom Savage recovering from a concussion.
Analysis: Yates subbed for Savage last week and was 14 of 26 for 175 yards and threw two touchdown passes in a 26-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He did not throw an interception, didn't fumble and was sacked one time. Yates added 31 rushing yards on three carries.
|12/14/2017||Giovani Bernard, Cin, RB|
|Bernard was limited in practice again on Thursday.
Analysis: If healthy, Bernard could settle back into a backup role as Joe Mixon is recovering from a concussion and could return in Week 15.
|12/14/2017||Alshon Jeffery, Phi, WR|
|Jeffery was back practicing Friday after missing Thursday's session due to an illness.
Analysis: He will start in Sunday's game against the Giants.
|12/14/2017||Elijah McGuire, NYJ, RB|
|McGuire, who was limited Thursday due to an ankle injury, will play Sunday in New Orleans.
Analysis: If healthy, McGuire could begin to get more opportunities in Week 15 if Matt Forte is continued to be phased out.
|12/14/2017||Matt Forte, NYJ, RB|
|Forte, who missed practiced again on Thursday, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at New Orleans.
Analysis: Forte might not be a fantasy option from here on out as the Jets begin to look to the future.
|12/14/2017||Adam Shaheen, Chi, TE|
|Shaheen is not expected to play in Saturday's game against the Lions because of a chest injury.
Analysis: Shaheen was thought to have had a breakout performance with four catches and a touchdown against the Bengals. This would certainly put a dent in that momentum.
|12/14/2017||Sterling Shepard, NYG, WR|
|Shepard will play Sunday after being limited in practice on Thursday due to a hamstring injury.
Analysis: We thought Shepard might have had more of a presence in New York's offense with Eli Manning back under center, but he only had two catches on Sunday.
|12/14/2017||Leonard Fournette, Jax, RB|
|Fournette missed practice Friday for the third consecutive day and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Houston.
Analysis: Fournette injured his right quadriceps muscle against Seattle last week, but insisted Thursday he would play.
